Host University: Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina
The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) is one of Brazil’s leading public universities and a recognized center of excellence in education, research, and innovation. The Center for Technological Sciences (CTC) is one of the largest academic units of UFSC and hosts several undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering and technology. Host City: Florianópolis
Florianópolis, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, is widely recognized as one of the country’s most attractive and livable cities. Situated on Santa Catarina Island and connected to the mainland by a series of bridges, the city combines modern urban infrastructure with exceptional natural beauty.

Climate: Florianópolis has a humid subtropical climate, characterized by mild winters and warm summers. During the conference period in March, attendees can typically expect pleasant temperatures ranging from 20 °C to 30 °C, with a mix of sunny days and occasional rainfall.
Currency and Payments: Brazil’s currency is the Brazilian Real (BRL). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout the city, and digital payment methods are commonly used.
Power: Brazil uses a standard voltage of 220V and a frequency of 60 Hz in Florianópolis. Power outlets generally follow the Brazilian Type N standard.
Visa Information
Brazil adopts a reciprocal visa policy. This means that citizens of countries that require visas for Brazilian nationals may also be required to obtain a visa to enter Brazil. As a result of bilateral agreements and reciprocal arrangements, Brazil currently has visa exemption agreements with approximately 90 countries. Examples of countries whose citizens currently require a visa to enter Brazil include the United States, Canada, and Australia. Citizens of European Union member states do not require a traditional visa to enter Brazil for tourism or business purposes. Brazil maintains bilateral visa waiver agreements with the European Union, allowing European citizens to stay in the country for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. As visa regulations may change over time, travelers are strongly encouraged to verify the latest requirements before making travel arrangements. Travel Information
Arriving in Florianópolis (Hercílio Luz International Airport)
The Florianópolis–Hercílio Luz International Airport (FLN) is located in the southern part of the island, approximately 12 km from downtown Florianópolis and about 14 km from the Majestic Palace Hotel. The journey to the hotel generally takes between 20 and 30 minutes by car, although travel time may increase during peak hours.
Florianópolis has frequent domestic flights to/from major Brazilian hubs, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Porto Alegre, and Campinas. International connections include direct flights to/from Lisbon and Panama City, as well as several destinations in South America, such as Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lima, Montevideo, and Córdoba. Some international routes operate seasonally, so travelers should confirm availability when booking.
Ground transportation
The Majestic Palace Hotel is located at 2746 Jornalista Rubens de Arruda Ramos Avenue, on Beira-Mar Norte, in downtown Florianópolis.
Official taxis are available at the airport 24 hours a day. A taxi ride to the hotel generally costs approximately BRL 75–95. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and 99 are also available, with designated pick-up areas outside the terminal. Fares generally range from BRL 45–70, depending on traffic and demand. Public transportation is also available. Bus line 431 – TICEN/Airport connects the airport with the downtown bus terminal (TICEN). From TICEN, passengers can take a local bus or a short taxi or ride-hailing trip to the hotel. The complete journey generally takes between 60 and 90 minutes. The conventional bus fare is approximately BRL 7.70 when paid in cash, by QR code, or via PIX. Schedules vary according to the day of the week and should be checked on the Consórcio Fênix website.
Several car rental companies operate at or near the airport. Economy-car rates typically start at approximately BRL 100–150 per day, but prices may be significantly higher during the summer season and public holidays. Within Florianópolis, taxis, Uber, 99, and the municipal bus network are widely available. Renting a car may be convenient for visitors planning to explore the island’s beaches, but it is generally not necessary for transportation between the airport, the hotel, and downtown.
